Memorial Day Special: THE PURGE
From Montville, Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Arena (Att: 10,000)

(The show opens with the standard Monday Night Raw intro package, featuring American flag prominently displayed alongside the pyrotechnics over the Mohegan Sun Arena. The crowd is deafeningly loud.)

MICHAEL COLE: Welcome everyone to Monday Night Raw, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena! The WWE Universe here is absolutely electric tonight!

JONATHAN COACHMAN: You can feel the anticipation in the air, Cole! And after the insanity of last week, you know something major is going to happen tonight!

(The theme music of STEPHANIE MCMAHON hits, followed by the glass-breaking sound of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's entrance. Both STEPHANIE MCMAHON and "STONE COLD" STEVE AUSTIN make their way to the ring. Austin rides his ATV down the ramp, cooler in tow.)

COLE: Here they are, the power structure of Raw. Stephanie McMahon and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin!

COACHMAN: Austin doesn't look like he's bringing any order tonight, Cole, he's got the cooler! Has been probably pregaming since noon.

(Stephanie enters the ring first, looking stern. Austin parks his ATV, grabs his cooler, slides into the ring, and immediately cracks open a beer.)

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: (Addressing the roaring crowd) Thank you all for that incredibly warm welcome. But let's get serious. After the last few weeks of utter chaos, of backstage brawls, of superstars destroying property and attacking each other with seemingly no consequence… the state of Monday Night Raw is unacceptable!

STEVE AUSTIN: (Takes a swig of beer) Unacceptable? Sounds like pretty damn good television to me! Let ‘em fight!

(The crowd cheers for Austin.)

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: No, Steve! We cannot continue like this! There has to be a way to control the uncontrollable! To bring some form of resolution to these rampant issues! We need to end this! We need order!

STEVE AUSTIN: So you say, huh? (WHAT) Get rid of the trash so to speak? (WHAT) To throw garbage out? (WHAT) End the Chaos? (WHAT) Sounds like you want… a purge.

(Stephanie pauses, looking out at the crowd, then back at Austin.)

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Yes, Steve. A purge. Tonight, we will embrace the chaos. We will take all the bottled up agression backstage and unleash it in one definitive contest. The theme of Monday Night Raw tonight is… The Purge.

(The titantron displays: MONDAY NIGHT RAW: THE PURGE. The crowd reacts with a mix of excitement and confusion.)

COLE: The Purge?! What madness is in store tonight?!?

COACHMAN: Austin looks like he's enjoying this, Cole. This sounds right up his alley.

STEVE AUSTIN: The Purge, huh? Alright, I’m listening. What exactly does this mean for all these fine folks in the building?

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: It means our main event tonight will feature an unprecedented match. A match with absolutely NO RULES! Falls will count ANYWHERE in this arena! It’s a fight to survive, because the only way to win… is to be the LAST MAN STANDING!

(The crowd buzzes loudly.)

STEVE AUSTIN: No rules? Falls count anywhere? Last man standin’? You’re speakin’ my language, Stephanie! Who’s gonna be in this rodeo?

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: The participants in The Purge, handpicked for their volatility and their involvement in the recent chaos, are…

(A list of names scrolls on the screen with theme music snippets as she announces them.)

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Shawn Spears! Dr. Stevie Richards! Lex Luger! Marc Mero! Sid! The Undertaker! Kane! Rick Steiner! Sterling James Keenan! Diamond Dallas Page! Rob Van Dam! Shawn Michaels! Triple H! X-Pac! PJ Black! Ultimo Dragon! El Patron! Dr. Wagner Jr.! And The Big Show!

(The crowd noise swells with each name announced, a mixture of reactions for each participant.)

COLE: Nineteen men! Nineteen of the most dangerous superstars in WWE! In a match with no rules and falls counting anywhere!

COACHMAN: And look at the stakes, Cole!

STEVE AUSTIN: The stakes, Stephanie? What’s the winner get for surviving this mess?

STEPHANIE MCMAHON: The man who is the last one standing, the winner of The Purge, will earn a guaranteed future opportunity for the Heavyweight Championship!

(A massive pop from the Connecticut crowd!)

COLE: A shot at the Heavyweight Championship! That changes everything!

COACHMAN: That is a huge prize at the end of this brutal match!

STEVE AUSTIN: Alright, alright! Now we’re talkin’! A title shot on the line! This ain’t gonna be pretty, but it’s gonna be one hell of a show! Let the Purge begin!

(Austin takes a large gulp of beer, crushes the can, and tosses it aside. Stephanie looks determined. They stand in the ring as the camera pans out to show the massive arena, foreshadowing the chaos to come.

COMMERICAL BREAK

(It is announced that the rest of tonight's episode will be commercial free thanks to SNICKERS!)

Just like tonight, Snickers, THE MOST NUTS EVER!!!

(The camera is backstage with TERRI RUNNELS, who stands ready with a microphone. VANESSA KRAVEN walks into the frame, her imposing presence immediately noticeable holding her WWE:RAW Women's Championship. She has a cold, confident smirk on her face.)

TERRI RUNNELS: Vanessa, thanks for joining me. We’re moments away from The Purge match, a no-rules, falls-count-anywhere brawl. What are your thoughts as we head into that chaos?

VANESSA KRAVEN: (Looks directly at the camera, a predatory glint in her eyes) Chaos, Terri? Please. What you’re about to see out there… it's just a warm-up act. Those men will tear each other apart, they'll leave bodies scattered all over this arena, and only one will be left standing. It’s violent, it’s brutal, and honestly? I can't wait to watch every single second of it.

(She pauses, her smirk widening.)

VANESSA KRAVEN: But let’s be clear, what those men are going to do tonight, that’s just a taste. A small, little appetizer compared to what Trina Thompson and I are going to do to each other at Ascension.

TERRI RUNNELS: You’re referring to your Last Woman Standing Match at the next pay-per-view, Ascension. You believe it will be even more violent than The Purge?

VANESSA KRAVEN: Believe it? I guarantee it. In a Last Woman Standing Match, you don't just win by pinfall or submission. You win when your opponent can no longer stand. When their body is broken, their spirit crushed, and they are left lying helpless while you walk away.

(Her voice drops to a low, menacing tone.)

VANESSA KRAVEN: Trina Thompson thinks she was "robbed" at WrestleMania. She thinks I was "unfair." Well, at Ascension, there will be no controversy, no excuses, and no escape. It won't be about being unfair, Trina. It'll be about total annihilation. I'm going to put her down, keep her down, and make sure she never gets up again. So, enjoy The Purge, Toronto. But remember, the real violence… the true brutality… is coming with me to Ascension.

(Vanessa Kraven gives a chilling smile and walks away, leaving Terri Runnels looking visibly unnerved.)

The Purge (No Rules, Falls Count Anywhere, Last Man Standing for a Future Heavyweight Championship Shot)

(The ring is filled with all nineteen participants. Bobby Cruise makes the introductions, but the atmosphere is already tense and chaotic.)

BOBBY CRUISE: The following contest is The Purge! There are no rules! Falls count anywhere! The last man standing will earn a future opportunity for the Heavyweight Championship the night after Ascension!

(The bell rings, and the arena erupts as all nineteen men immediately attack each other! The ring is a swirling mass of bodies and punches.)

COLE: The Purge has begun! It is absolute pandemonium!

COACHMAN: Total anarchy, Cole! It's every man for himself right from the start!

(Rick Steiner is immediately targeted by multiple opponents due to his size and proximity. A quick flurry of punches and kicks from several wrestlers sends him staggering. Sid grabs him and hits a Chokeslam in the center of the ring.)

(Sid covers Rick Steiner.)

BOBBY CRUISE: ONE… TWO… THREE!

(The bell rings quickly to confirm the elimination.)

COLE: Rick Steiner is the first man eliminated! Sid gets the pinfall!

COACHMAN: Just like that, nineteen are down to eighteen!

(The brawl spills out of the ring and into the arena. Sid and Big Show immediately gravitate towards each other, continuing their feud from last week.)

(Marc Mero, trying to avoid the bigger men, battles PJ Black near the entrance tunnel. Mero manages to hit a low blow while the referee is slightly blocked and rolls up Black for the pinfall.)

COLE: Marc Mero with a quick elimination on PJ Black near the tunnel!

COACHMAN: Mero using his cunning to survive early! I wouldn't expect that of Mero but given the stakes, I love to see it!

(Shawn Spears comes out of the entrance and pays Mero back with a low blow then schoolboys him to eliminate Mero!)

Cole: Karma man. Can't escape karma.

(The Undertaker and Kane stalk together, a dark force moving through the arena. They head towards the back, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.)

(El Patron and Dr. Wagner Jr. are also seen heading towards the backstage area, perhaps planning a strategic attack.)

(Dr. Stevie Richards battles Ultimo Dragon near the concessions. Richards uses the environment to his advantage, slamming Dragon's head into a steel barrier before hitting a Stevie Kick and Dragon falling back into a popcorn machine that buries Dragon under a mountain of popcorn and Stevie with the cover.)

COLE: Dr. Stevie Richards eliminates Ultimo Dragon next to the concession stand! Dragon hopefully is hungry because he has to eat his way through a half pound of popcorn!

COACHMAN: Richards is using his "psychology" to pick his spots!

(The brawl continues throughout the arena. DDP and Sterling James Keenan find themselves in a corner, trading blows. Shawn Spears is actively seeking out Dr. Stevie Richards, not knowing he is in the concession area.)

(The cameras cut to the dimly lit parking lot area outside the arena. Kane and The Undertaker have cornered El Patron and Dr. Wagner Jr. It's a brutal fight outside. Kane Chokeslams El Patron onto the hood of a car, the metal denting. The Undertaker hits a Tombstone Piledriver on Dr. Wagner Jr. onto the asphalt.)

COLE: They’re in the parking lot! Kane and The Undertaker are destroying El Patron and Dr. Wagner Jr.!

COACHMAN: The Brothers of Destruction are a force of nature, Cole! They don't care where the fight is!

(Referees are present to count the pinfalls in the parking lot. Because the action is so hot and heavy, security guards have makeshift referee shirts on!)

COLE: Kane eliminates El Patron! And Undertaker eliminates Dr. Wagner Jr.!

(The cameras cut back to the arena, the chaos ongoing.)

(Sid and The Big Show are fighting near a large dumpster or maintenance area filled with trash.)

(Sid and Big Show exchange powerful blows. Sid manages to shove Big Show down into a massive pile of garbage. Sid quickly starts grabbing handfuls and bags of trash, burying Big Show under the refuse! The referee counts the pinfall on the struggling Big Show, who is unable to move from beneath the pile.)

COLE: Sid is burying The Big Show! He’s eliminated him by literally burying him in garbage!

COACHMAN: That’s one way to get rid of a giant, Cole! Sid survives!

(Sterling James Keenan and Rob Van Dam are fighting near the loading dock. Keenan manages to trap RVD near some crates. He finds a roll of barbed wire and viciously wraps it around RVD's arms and torso! RVD screams in agony! Keenan quickly covers the incapacitated RVD.)

COLE: Barbed wire! Keenan used barbed wire on RVD!

COACHMAN: You can't escape that! Keenan is willing to do ANYTHING to win!

(The referee counts the pinfall on the trapped RVD.)

COLE: Keenan eliminates RVD! He’s moving on! Only a minor payback for WrestleMania but SJK can get a heavyweight title shot out of this and the WWE:RAW Heavyweight Championship is the second most important title in the WCFL outside of the World Heavyweight Championship.

(Dr. Stevie walks into a makeshift office that looks like his psychiatric office but he doesn't sit in his usual office chair but on the patient chair instead. He is heaving for breath when his chair turns around and it is SHAWN SPEARS! Spears leaps over the chair and with several psychology books fastballs them to Stevie. The chaos gets too much and the camera man falls out of the office door and Spears shutting it and locking it from the inside.)

(The Undertaker and Kane are seen walking back towards the arena from the parking lot. As they reach a dark, secluded hallway, a strange, unnatural fog envelops them. When it clears seconds later, they are gone. They are not pinned.)

COLE: They're back inside… and they've vanished again!

COACHMAN: It's inexplicable, Cole! The Brothers of Destruction are out of The Purge, but not by pinfall!

(The match continues. The remaining active participants are scattered: DDP, Sid, Sterling James Keenan, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and X-Pac.)

(Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and X-Pac are near the entrance way looking for anyone to fight. Suddenly, SCOTT HALL and KEVIN NASH sprint down the ramp, chairs in hand! They attack DX from behind! Hall lays into Shawn Michaels with a chair, Nash attacks Triple H, and Hall then swings at X-Pac! They beat down all three members of DX, ensuring they are unable to continue. Hall and Nash then grab cans of spray paint and spray the letters "KLIQ" onto the backs of the fallen DX members.)

COLE: Hall and Nash are here! They're taking out DX!

COACHMAN: I knew their taking time off was a ruse. They promised revenge, and they're getting it! They're spray painting them!

(Referees confirm that all three DX members are incapacitated and removed from the match. Hall and Nash stand over their rivals, a look of satisfaction on their faces, before retreating.)

(Sid is making his way towards the ring area, looking dominant. DDP and Sterling James Keenan are still battling nearby.)

(Sid reaches the ringside area, looking ready to eliminate the final remaining competitors. Suddenly, THE BIG SHOW bursts onto the scene! He is furious, still covered in garbage and looking disheveled. As Sid turns to face him, Big Show connects with a thunderous WMD Punch! Sid staggers back, dazed!)

COLE: Big Show is back! He’s getting revenge on Sid!

COACHMAN: He wasn't going to let Sid get away with burying him in muck!

(Big Show doesn't pin Sid, but ensures he is completely laid out at ringside before lumbering away, still covered in trash. )

(The final two men remaining are DDP and Sterling James Keenan. They are the only ones left capable of continuing.)

COLE: We’re down to two! After all that chaos, it’s DDP and Sterling James Keenan! Last week, these two met one on one and now it is all down to them again this week.

(DDP and Keenan slowly make their way back into the ring area. The ring itself is slightly damaged, chairs are scattered at ringside, and the areas they fought in are a mess. They look utterly exhausted but determined.)

(Some ring crew members are seen setting up two tables on the floor outside the ring near the entrance ramp and throwing a bunch of cleaning supplies on them to try and get a head start on cleaning the arena.)

COLE: Wait a minute! What are they doing?! They're setting up tables!

(DDP and Keenan are exchanging weary blows in the ring. Keenan is desperate, trying every dirty trick he knows. DDP is fighting with the heart that made him famous.)

(DDP manages to send Keenan reeling. He sees the tables set up outside. He climbs the turnbuckle, looking out at the tables. Keenan slowly starts to stir below him.)

(DDP leaps from the top rope, connecting with a Diamond Cutter! But he doesn't land in the ring! He flips Keenan over the top rope, and BOTH MEN crash down onto the two tables set up on the floor! The tables shatter with a loud crash!)

COLE: DIAMOND CUTTER THROUGH THE TABLES! THEY BOTH WENT THROUGH!

COACHMAN: My god! What a move! Who is going to get the pin?!

(The referee slides out of the ring and sees DDP laying across Keenan and counts the pinfall on Sterling James Keenan amidst the wreckage of the tables.)

REFEREE: ONE… TWO… THREE!

(The bell rings, signaling the end of The Purge.)

BOBBY CRUISE: Here is your winner, and the man who has earned a future opportunity for the Heavyweight Championship… DIAMOND… DALLAS… PAGE!

(DDP, groaning but conscious, is helped up by the referee. He is battered and bruised, but he is the last man standing. He looks over at the unconscious Sterling James Keenan in the broken tables. DDP raises a shaky arm in victory as his music plays.)

COLE: Diamond Dallas Page has won The Purge! What an unbelievable match! What a feat of endurance!

COACHMAN: DDP did it! He survived everything and earned a shot at the Heavyweight Championship!

(DDP leans against the ring apron, trying to catch his breath, soaking in the moment of victory after the brutal match.)

(The camera cuts backstage to a dimly lit corridor filled with crates and metal doors. GOLDBERG is walking purposefully, eyes scanning, clearly looking for UMAGA. He is still nursing his back from last week's brutal end to Raw.)

COLE: Meanwhile, backstage, Goldberg, who I can't believe is still standing, let alone is still on the hunt for Umaga! He's not waiting for their match at Ascension!

COACHMAN: You can see the rage in his eyes, Cole. He wants revenge for last week.

(Goldberg pauses, looking down a hallway. Suddenly, from the shadows, BRET "THE HITMAN" HART appears. He is standing stoically, arms crossed, looking directly at Goldberg.)

BRET HART: Bill.

(Goldberg stops dead in his tracks. He turns to face Bret Hart, a look of surprise and maybe confusion on his face.)

GOLDBERG: Bret.

BRET HART: You want Umaga? You want to keep destroying things? You think you're unstoppable? You think you're some kind of conquering hero?

(Bret Hart starts walking slowly towards Goldberg, his voice calm but laced with bitter intensity.)

BRET HART: You see, Bill, I know exactly what kind of man you are. I know exactly what kind of destruction you bring. You ended my career, Bill. You stole years of my life. You took away my ability to do what I loved more than anything.

(Goldberg is visibly distracted by Bret Hart's presence and his words. His focus is solely on The Hitman.)

BRET HART: And for that, I will never forgive you. And I will never forget. You think you're tough? You think you're powerful? You're just a dangerous, reckless machine. And machines can be broken.

(As Bret Hart finishes speaking, his eyes dart quickly over Goldberg's shoulder. Goldberg doesn't notice. Suddenly, from directly behind Goldberg, UMAGA lunges forward! He was hiding, listening! Umaga grabs Goldberg from behind in a powerful grip!)

COLE: Look out, Goldberg!

COACHMAN: Umaga! He was waiting!

(Goldberg struggles, caught completely off guard. Umaga, letting out a guttural roar, lifts the struggling Goldberg and with immense force, drives him headfirst THROUGH a large, metallic truck delivery door! The metal buckles and tears with a loud crash as Goldberg is thrown through it and disappears into the darkness beyond!)

COLE: OH MY GOD! UMAGA JUST THREW GOLDBERG THROUGH A METAL DOOR!

COACHMAN: He demolished him! Goldberg is taken out!

(Umaga stands over the crumpled, torn metal door, beating his chest and letting out savage, primal screams of triumph. Bret Hart watches the scene, a small, chilling smile spreading across his face.)

BRET HART: (To himself, quietly) That’s just the beginning, Bill.

(Umaga continues his terrifying screams of victory. Bret Hart’s cold laughter echoes slightly in the hallway.)

COLE: Umaga has incapacitated Goldberg! Just weeks before Ascension!

COACHMAN: And Bret Hart… he orchestrated it! Is Bret Hart the person who Stephanie was on the phone with last week? Is he Umaga's new "handler?"

(The camera holds on Umaga roaring over the destroyed door and Bret Hart’s satisfied, laughing face.)

(The screams of Umaga and the unsettling laughter of Bret Hart fill the audio as the screen slowly fades to black.)
